Race 6 at Randwick Racecourse on Saturday 19th October 2024.

The Sydney Stakes is a Group 3 race held at Randwick over 1200 metres.The race is for horses aged Three-Years-Old and older and is run under Weight-For-Age Conditions.The total prize money this year is $2,000,000.

Sydney Stakes 2024 Preview

Track: Soft 6 Weather: Fine

Tricky race to sort with varying form lines all round. Southport Tycoon was a big run last start in the Manikato Stakes . Maps for a good time of things and beat Growing Empire which is good form for this. Overpass will be on speed and hard to stop as usual. Mazu is going well this prep and the wetter the better. Think About It is due for a change of luck and didn’t have much go right in the Premiere Stakes. Not much between those 4.

Flies fresh and is the class act of the field. Expect on speed tactics and will be very hard to run down from there. Top 2 chance.

2. Think About It (16)

Has bounced back to form recently but barrier 16 makes things hard. Can win but will need luck from out there.

3. Southport Tycoon (5)

Hard to knock the form having run past a chance in Growing Empire who is well in The Everest market. Commands huge respect and maps well. Top 2 hope.

4. Airman (4)

Can’t have.

5. King Of Sparta (17)

Dry tracker that will be hoping for conditions to suit. Capable fresh but the wide draw makes things hard.

6. Mazu (9)

Has found form this prep and any rain is a huge bonus for its chances. Goes in the mix.

Can’t have.

8. Coal Crusher (3)

Prefer others.

9. Arkansaw Kid (6)

Extremely consistent prep and maps for a lovely time of things from barrier6. Finds the right race and looks a good hope.

This looks too tough.
