Track: Good Weather: Overcast

A really tough race to assess this year.  Persan is the class runner but is giving away 6kg to the rest of the field – most of which are queries at the distance.

1. Persan

Class runner in the race and has to give the rest of the field 6kg as a result.  Has been up for a while but that’s rarely an issue with this stable.  Was a solid showing in the Sandown Classic last start and expect them to run along out in front again with some of the other fancied runners queries at the trip.

2. Adelaide Ace

Home hard at Caulfield two back, then ran well in the Werribee Cup.  The distance is the big unknown here.

3. Nobel Heights

Travelled into the Pakenham Cup like the winner before weakening over the last 200m to just hold second.  Not sold he runs a metre more than 2400.

4. Cormorant

Had the right run in the Werribee Cup and stuck on okay into fourth.  Fitter again here with Williams going on.  The extra distance should be to his liking.

5. Never Again

Stormed over the top of them at Sandown last week in an easier event.  Flying but this is harder.

6. True Marvel

Was okay last start in the Sandown Cup.  Jamie Kah should give him every chance from barrier 5.  Place chance.

7. Winifer

Having third start for Nick Ryan.  Sharply up in grade / trip with a six week gap in between runs.  Not sure that is the right set up.

8. Creative Hero

Was second in a benchmark 76 at Hobart last start.  This is tougher.

9. The Awesome Son

Has talent on his day but its been a while since he’s done anything.

10. Miss Five Hundred

Found our black book after running out of room late at Sandown last Saturday.  Not well in under these conditions but is ready to do something and will see the trip out!

11. Look Sharpish

A much tougher race than what she has been contesting.  Rough place chance.
