Second favourite is Aztec Ruler who returned after 17 weeks for 1.6 lengths 6th in the Black Heart Bart and goes well second-up. Third favourite is Phanta who was runner-up in the Black Heart Bart. Next in the betting are Magnificent Andy who has finished well back in both starts this campaign, Vast Art who won the Hannans Handicap by 1.5 lengths and Super Smink who resumed for 3rd in the Black Heart Bart. The other runners are currently $12 or longer.

Disappointed in all 3 runs last time in. Prefer to see.

3. Valour Road (18)

The oldest runner in the race this year. Finished 2nd in this race last year and 3rd in 2021. Has had an 8 week let-up since running 2nd in the Idyllic Prince Stakes. Has the widest barrier but can get in the money.

4. Let’s Galahvant (10)

First-up from a 15 week break and normally needs his first-up run.

5. Magnificent Andy (3)

Has finished well back in both starts this campaign, running 11th of 14 last start in the Listed Black Heart Bart Stakes over 1200m at Belmont on 28th September. Wait for him to show form.​

6. A Lot Of Good Men (2)

Hasn’t raced since winning the Group 2 WATC Derby over 2400m at Ascot in April. Watch the betting.

7. Massimo (11)

Finished 2nd in this race in 2021 and 3rd in 2022. Ran 9th in the Black Heart Bart first-up but will improve second-up.

8. Mood Swings (6)

Won the Black Heart Bart by 0.5 length. Chance.

9. Ginger Baker (7)

Finished 10th in the Listed Hannans Handicap over 1400m at Kalgoorlie on 2nd October. Prefer others.​

10. Phanta (4)

He was runner-up in the Black Heart Bart after being runner-up in the Nicopolis Stakes. Include in exotics.

11. Vast Art (12)

Won the Hannans Handicap by 1.5 lengths. Can be in the finish.

12. Aztec Ruler (5)

Returned after 17 weeks for 1.6 lengths 6th in the Black Heart Bart and goes well second-up. Outside chance.

13. Super Smink (16)

Resumed for 3rd in the Black Heart Bart. Goes well second-up and can be in the finish.

14. Searchin’ Roc’s (17)

Resumed with a win in the Listed Idyllic Prince Stakes over 1300m at Belmont on 24th August then was 5th in the Black Heart Bart. Hard to catch but good when right.​

15. Comfort Me (15)

Ran 3rd in this race last year. Resumes after 20 weeks and has been flying at the trials. Chance.

16. Laced Up Heels (9)

Finished 4 lengths 10th in the Black Heart Bart when resuming. Not the worst.

17e. Currimundi (1)

Both runs this campaign have been poor. Unlikely.

18e. Kaptain Kaos (14)

Ran on strongly at the end of the Black Heart Bart. Rough place chance.
