Newcastle races are held at Newcastle Racecourse throughout the year. The NSW Provincial club holds around 24 meetings a year that are mostly on Saturdays and occasionally during the week.

Located around 167km north of Sydney, Newcastle has a spacious track that has terrific drainage and is highly regarded as the best racecourse in New South Wales. Newcastle hosts some feature racing at the start and finish of the Sydney Spring carnival as well as a feature race in March, the Group 3 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap.

Newcastle races don’t have any Group 1 events but they have five Group 3 events and a special feature race called “The Hunter”.

If travelling via public transport there are several bus stops located around the racecourse, head to Newcastle buses to plan your route. The closest train station is Broadmeadow train station which is a 17min walk to the racecourse. There is plenty of parking nearby though Newcastle Racecourse does offer 300 complimentary parking spaces within their grounds.
