Our Hobart Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

Best Bet

Not A Brass Razoo (Hobart Race 4 No. 5)

In a day that I’m not overly confident, I think NOT A BRASS RAZOO can prove too good for her rivals, including in-form favourite STELLADONI.

She had her first trial at Hobart since joining the Brunton stable, coming from Andrew Noblet (VIC) and I thought that effort was pleasing off such a long break. I think she’ll get an economical run along the inside and if she can be produced late, she should be finishing strongly!

$4.20

Best Each Way

Supercraft (Hobart Race 2 No. 5):

Again, I wasn’t overly confident on this meeting but there looks to be a bit of overs about SUPERCRAFT.

He’s drawn wide, but I think he should be able to get across and either lead or sit outside EYES FOR ASH. He was well supported on debut and did a few things wrong in the run and was subsequently put away for a spell. He’s returned with a pair of nice trials, including one where he beat favourite EYES FOR ASH, who I had marked favourite. The price differential looks far too big here, so happy to play SUPERCRAFT each-way!

$15.00/4.20

Best Lay

Verbano (Hobart Race 6 No. 9):

Taking a position against Scott Brunton runners can be a dangerous game, but VERBANO looks very short here. Yes, she’s gone across to Melbourne and ran okay, but nothing in her career to date really jumps off the page from a figures point of view. This looks a very even race, which I have around $5 the field so I’ll look to oppose her at the opening quote.

LAY at < $4.50

Key Comments An evening meeting with the first race at 6 pm.The track is rated good and the rail is +8 metres from the 1200m to the winning post and +6 metres for the remainder. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with an advantage to those who find the inside lanes in the straight. Best Bet Azonto (Launceston Race 3 No. 12) Azonto won at Devonport Synthetic on debut, then

Key Comments Expecting on speed to be suited. The best bet was a beaten favourite first up and only needs even luck from the draw to be breaking its maiden and looks around the right odds to be doing so. Race 7 is the Taree Gold Cup and is for eligibility into the Big Dance. Best Bet Bonding (Taree Race 1 No. 5) Beaten favourite last start without much luck from the draw. Drawn wide again but not much depth or form to

Key Comments Expecting all runners to have their chance on this track. The best bet is in the last of the day and looks well placed to win off the back of a solid effort when a beaten favourite. Best Bet Illative (Pakenham Race 9 No. 5) Beaten favourite but comes into this with big claims. Started $1.85 that day and this race looks no harder. Will need a back to follow but has won on this track and commands big respect in
