Our Ipswich Horse Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.

Fortified (Ipswich Race 6 No. 1)
This three-year-old Ocean Park gelding trained by Chris Waller has two wins and two places from five starts. He ran on well but the winner was too good when 1.3 lengths 2nd over 1400m at Sunshine Coast on 25 April, then was 5th on the home turn and did best to win by a narrow margin over 1845m at Eagle Farm on 5 May. Bred to stay he looks the likely winner in this QTIS 3YO handicap.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Karlstad (Ipswich Race 4  No. 6):
This three-year-old Sacred Falls gelding has had one win from four starts. When resuming after 20 weeks he ran on out wide without threatening for 2.7 lengths 5th over 1200m at Gold Coast on 17 April, then led from the home turn and drew clear for a 2 length win over 1350m at Ipswich ion 3 May. The extra distance shouldn’t worry him and he looks a solid each-way chance.

Best Lay

Prospectus (Ipswich Race 3 No. 3):
This four-year-old Excelebration gelding is the early favourite in this BM 78 handicap over 1710m. He kept chasing for 4.4 lengths 9th over 1800m at Randwick on 26 December where he finished lame in the off fore-leg. On resuming after 18 weeks he didn’t run on when 5.75 lengths 11th over 1400m at Eagle Farm on 1 May. He has placed at all 3 second-up starts but has never won and I’m prepared to risk him here.

Key Comments The track is in the soft range. The best bet has been a model of consistency for us this prep and sticking with it to break through for a deserving win. Best Bet Pretty Vegas (Canberra Race 3 No. 2) Back to back placings this prep for Pretty Vegas and this looks a nice race for it to break through in. The jockey now has had a ride aboard and should know the horse better. Stays over the track and trip

Horse Racing Tips: NSW Friday 18th October 2024

Key Comments Expecting on speed to be suited. The best bet was a beaten favourite first up and only needs even luck from the draw to be breaking its maiden and looks around the right odds to be doing so. Race 7 is the Taree Gold Cup and is for eligibility into the Big Dance. Best Bet Bonding (Taree Race 1 No. 5) Beaten favourite last start without much luck from the draw. Drawn wide again but not much depth or form to

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Friday 18th October 2024

Key Comments Expecting all runners to have their chance on this track. The best bet is in the last of the day and looks well placed to win off the back of a solid effort when a beaten favourite. Best Bet Illative (Pakenham Race 9 No. 5) Beaten favourite but comes into this with big claims. Started $1.85 that day and this race looks no harder. Will need a back to follow but has won on this track and commands big respect in
