Chairman’s Sprint Prize Race Information

The Chairman’s Sprint Prize is a 1200 metre race for three-year-olds and upwards run by the Hong Kong Jockey Club in April. It is held at Sha Tin on Champions Day where three Group 1 races take place.

Chairman’s Sprint Prize Race History

The race was first held in 1979 as the Hong Kong Sprint Championship when Sha Tin was opened. It was won by a horse called Ever Win trained by Arthur Ward and ridden by Tony Cruz. It became an International Group 1 race in 2016. It is the final leg of the Hong Kong Speed Series and the fourth leg of the Global Sprint Challenge

It is held on the same day as the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup over 2000m and the Champions Mile over 1600m.
